Project Manta

CONSERVATION, OUTREACH AND RESEARCH

Project Manta is a multidisciplinary study of the ecology and biology of manta rays around Australia. The project was established in 2007 on the east coast, and expanded nationwide in 2014. You can be part of the research by sharing your photos of manta rays.

Photographs and videos of the underside of manta rays are particularly needed for this project to be successful. Photos are utilised for identification of manta rays and are integrated into our photograph database to add our understanding of the animals movements, distribution, sex ratio and growth rates.

Share your photos with us via Facebook or email at project.manta@uq.edu.au, and if a new manta is identified from your shots, you will get to NAME YOUR OWN MANTA!
