Great Barrier Reef Legacy

Science for solutions. Adventure with purpose.

GBR Legacy is a community focused non-for-profit organisation that is committed to the protection and stewardship of coral reef systems worldwide. Learning from the original pilot vessel, Undersea Explorer, GBR Legacy is evolving to become a self-sustaining and on-going research, education and multi-media platform for the Great Barrier Reef. Where Citizen Science expeditions will be undertaken at the highest level using established survey databases and independent research.

Currently in the nursery stages of evolution, GBR Legacy has been nurtured from Undersea Explorer and Eye to Eye Marine Encounters; pioneers to citizen science. Eye to Eye Marine Encounters is a leader in funding various marine research projects whilst harnessing the tourist dollar. Both, Undersea Explorer and Eye to Eye Marine Encounters, have delivered cost effective field based research, education, outstanding wildlife encounters, innovative citizen science projects, and world-class documentaries. Evolving from this innovative model, GBR Legacy seeks to engage people from all nations to play a role in safeguarding the heritage of coral reefs.
